GREATER NAPANEE, Ont. (02/14/18) — Napanee Fire Emergency Services prepare to put out a car fire on Hwy. 401 near Napanee, Ont. on Feb. 14, 2018. Fire Services got a call around 7:54 p.m. that a car was on fire near the 579 mile marker. There were no injuries, said Fire Prevention Officer Kevin Duncan. Aside from the usual rubber necking, the incident did not cause any further traffic issues. The cause of the car fire was not determined. "Car fires are almost impossible to determine because they burn so fast," said Officer Duncan. He added that they were at a good location to respond to the fire quickly, as the fire occurred between two exits. "There are lots of car fires on the 401," said Officer Duncan.

NORTH BAY, Ont. (04/11/17) - My Nanna's hands are on my face. Every time I leave home, it gets harder to say goodbye. She is old for 84 - a quickly slowing mind that was never stimulated beyond grade three - but she has paid attention to life, and she shares what she knows, in Italian or English or both. "Patience, Bella Nanna. This is our secret. Ti voglio bene e I lovey you, too." (Giulia Tignanelli)
Summary: A return to self-portraiture in the age of the selfie, this art documentary series makes the photographer vulnerable to her audience during a difficult time of transition.

2. PRTFebVGT1
Multiple pictures was the most difficult category to judge. Some photos could have used a much more concise captions with an explanation of technique used as it appeared to be projections or multiple exposures. We felt that for editorial integrity that should have been explained. The winning entry was the strongest set of images but the judges didn’t want it be interpreted that the winning entry won because it was shot out of the country. The second place entry did not have an overall caption that explained the set or any story so it suffered from lack of info.

GUELPH, Ont. (15/02/18) - Julian Holman is known as “the pigeon guy” in Guelph, Ont. He walks barefoot throughout the streets of downtown, with a pigeon perched constantly on his shoulder, smoking cigarettes. Like a pacifier to a baby, it is the only thing that calms him. His tattered clothes and neglected hygiene do not suit his handsome face. He squints at passersby in the sunlight, speaking openly to anyone who is interested - interruptive rambles combined with slow and thoughtful eloquence - as if from another time.
